Core Philosophies

As the market leader, we spend more than any other company in our industry on R&D. Having increased our R&D spending by an average of more than 10% each year for the past five years, we currently invest between USD 60 to 70 million per year.

As a result, METTLER TOLEDO has an outstanding reputation as a global innovator. We have highly specialized know-how in the field of automation and robotics, miniaturization, software development, as well as optical- and laser-based applications. As our products have high software content, we pay close attention to state-of-the-art man-machine interfaces. Today, more than half our employees in R&D are software engineers.

METTLER TOLEDO is also committed to total quality, which refers to products as much as to the continuous development of our organization and workflows. The permanent monitoring of our production processes guarantees the delivery of flawless solutions to our customers. These solutions comply with different national and international standards, and METTLER TOLEDO's Engineering Labs are accredited by various official institutions. Continuous quality measurement in our design and production processes ensures that anything leaving our factories complies with these requirements.
